Let’s face it: unless you have years of field sales experience, the sheer thought of cold marketing or recruiting strikes fear in your heart and mind. And I’ll bet even the most experienced salesmen still have a doubt or two every now and then. Overcoming fear of cold marketing is one of the major career barriers to most network marketers, and a primary reason why so many of them fail to succeed.
But overcoming fear isn’t as easy as it seems, or is it?
Well, for starters, we fear cold marketing because we are really saying we are afraid of the feeling associated with rejection. So what if overcoming fear were to not be so stinging when we get rejected? Or what if there was a way we could mitigate that feeling to a point where it doesn’t paralyze us?
The solution to overcoming fear: A JOB!
WHAT? Ironic, isn’t it? The solution to financial freedom is to be free from a JOB, but now I’m telling you that the solution to your psychological barrier IS a JOB. Am I high? No, hear me out…
Why do have this overwhelming fear of approaching your cold market, when it directly relates to your success? What if I told you I would pay you $25,000 / month to call leads every day, regardless of the result? Would you do it then? Chances are, you would.
Why are we willing to not do something for ourselves, but so mindful to do things for others? Is it because of the money? I don’t think so. It’s because the option of working for someone takes the guilt or responsibility away from ourselves. We, as humans, love to deflect owning up to failure. Our pride is no longer an issue, because the people are rejecting the company, not you.
So what does this have to do with overcoming fear of cold marketing?
Simple: if you want the fast track to success, and fear of rejection is a major barrier for you, get a job.
Specifically, get a job that your main duty involves cold calling people. It’s the most direct and no BS way to mitigate your fear.
And what about overcoming fear of talking to people in person? Again, get a job, this time a job in field sales that requires you to pound the pavement and knock on doors.
See? What did I tell you? No BS…just the truth. There’s no fluff at all.

This is the dirty truth method to put your mentality in to hyperdrive. The choice is yours of whether you want to use this in overcoming fear, or if it’s too extreme. There are lesser extremist methods, but I just wanted to throw it out there.
