A recent life event has caused a major shakeup in our family situation. It’s forced us to re-think our situation once again, and search for alternate solutions. While I am not going to bore you with the details of the personal happenings of my life, my experience was a reminder of what those of internet marketing should know.
What my recent event taught me about internet marketing is that you can’t keep doing the same thing and expecting the same result.
Albert Einstein was quoted saying that if you keep doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting a different result, then that is called insanity. I think in terms of internet marketing, there are a lot of us out there who have been running around in circles for quite some time. In other words, I’m going to venture to say that there are a lot of internet marketing “crazies”.
What makes what people do insane internet marketing is that they pour lots of time and resources in to methods without discipline or budget, and end up losing their shorts without a sniff of a sale.
Not to worry folks, there is a sane way to do internet marketing. What it comes down to is a few basic skills, and recognition that just repetition alone isn’t going to product results.
To stop the internet marketing insanity, an easy step to take is to make sure that all your links and advertising methods are trackable. Without tracking and tracing, there’s no way for you to decipher which of your ads and methods are working. If you have no idea what’s working and not working, how can you possibly know how to be an efficient internet marketer?
There are a number of free methods to track your traffic, and any good affiliate program will provide you a way to track results. Make sure you test your links before sending them out!
Once you have your tracking results, you can figure out what ads are not producing. Then you can analyze and do testing on variations to the ad, or changing the source to see if it makes a difference. Changing the content, ad copy, and provider can determine success and failure.
Whatever you do, it’s important to constantly adjust and control until you find a solution that works. Once you find a high-producing method for your product, continue to test. You want to confirm the validity of the results, as well as figure out what aspect of your ad is working. You want to be able to replicate those results through several campaigns.
That’s how a lot of internet marketers made it when they first started out. They found one internet marketing product, and marketed the stuffing out of it. Then they tested and tested and found their niche campaigns to take advantage of them to make their money.
Discipline, tracking, and adjustments are the keys to what will get an insane internet marketer unstuck. So the question is: what are you doing with your campaigns to make sure you aren’t just throwing your money away?
Are you stuck in internet marketing insanity? If so, send me an email for help.
